After biking the Otago Rail Trail we moved onto Queenstown with the intention of heading out to Glenorchy and if the weather was ok to complete a day walk on the Routeburn track.
After grabbing a hearty al fresco breakfast in the wonderful alpine setting at Glenorchy we ventured up the road (track) to the Routeburn terminus.
We walked to the first hut but wished we had started a little earlier as it was an amazing five hours of bush, mountain and river scenery that whetted my appetite to go back and walk the whole track. To leave it as a day walk kind of feels like cheating (which we are).
