Our airbnb is a small studio apartment above shops in Saint Antoine in the Marias district of the city.

It is an excellent position for exploring a few of the many parts of Paris that we had not seen (and never will) but the heat and a lack of air conditioning in the apartment has meant that we have had the sounds of Paris screaming through the open windows at night. Being deaf does have it’s rewards! especially late at night (or very early in the morning) when the emergency services are very active.

The warm air in the apartment has been excellent for drying washing so every cloud has that silver lining.

I am wondering if our shoes will hold out, on foot we are averaging around 15km a day, top day has been 22km. Ruth is getting shorter as a result.

The bagss are not getting any easier to pack and that is not because we are acquiring extra gear, it just does not want to pack as compactly as that first time. However, the decision to go for two smaller bags has proven useful now that we are back on the trains, stowing the smaller bags in much easier.

We cross the channel tomorrow to start more biking at the end of the week.

Love the photo of Ruth and Napolean for the perspective!

The surprising aspect to the photo was getting it without 20 or 30 other people in it.
