Amsterdam: On your bike

We are enjoying being spectators of life in Amsterdam, especially the role of the bike.

Not is it just a means of getting from A to B but it appears to a primary way of defining your style. In other destinations the car is often used to make a statement about the person, here, the person and the bike make the statement.

No lycra, no fancy gears, no Mercs or BMWs in the biking sense, just the ability to ride an “old clanger” and somehow do it with style, put the “cool” into cycling.

800,000 locals use the bike on a daily basis, the bike makes up the primary number of transport movements in the city, bike parking is challenging and walking around the city is made interesting as the bikes whizz by.
